Bournemouth Affordable Warmth Partnership have developed a simple referral form which enables home visiting professionals to identify and refer clients to Dorset Energy Advice Centre.  DEAC then calls back the client and is able to refer them to an insulation grant or further energy advice as appropriate.

DEAC are delighted that the partnership have already exceeded their target and that 2,300 households are already benefitting from warmer, greener homes and cheaper fuel bills.

The text below is an extract from the Bournemouth 2026 update.

Confirmation has been received this week, of our first LAA 1 target worth £385,654 to the town in LAA 1 performance reward grant, has been achieved. This is cause for celebration!

Affordable Warmth – is all about lifting people out of fuel poverty by insulating homes and advising people about how to reduce their energy costs. The work is council led by Neil Short and the Affordable Warmth Partnership (Age Concern, CAB, the Council, Dorset Energy Advice Centre and many more). The team delivering the target have already exceeded expectations with over 2,300 households benefiting so far, against a target of 1,965 and with 5 months left to run.

As a result of the economic downturn, increased cost of living/unemployment is resulting in more households potentially falling into fuel poverty and suffering the effects of living in cold homes. By leading on delivery of this important area of work the council and it’s partners are supporting the poorest people in our town to stay warm this winter and reduce CO2 emissions.

The team is continuing to deliver the work - as partners we can help identify these households and publicise the help available.
