If you are aged between 60 and 69, and own a property with a council tax band between A and D, you could benefit from free loft and cavity wall insulation.
The grant is available for residents of Bournemouth Borough Council, Borough of Poole, Christchurch Borough Council, East Dorset District Council, North Dorset District Council and Purbeck District Council. Weymouth and Portland Borough Council are expected to come on board shortly.
Emily Bullock, from Dorset Energy Advice Centre says, “Insulating your home is always a good move, you will save money on your fuel bills, reduce your carbon footprint and feel warm and cosy in the winter. And of course if you are intending to sell your home and need an Energy Performance Certificate you will get a much better rating on an insulated home. The great news about this grant is that it’s totally free to the householder and you don’t have to be on benefits.”
Other insulation grants are available and everyone who owns or privately rents their home can benefit from a discount and if over 70 or on qualifying benefits may be able to get the work done free of charge.
