We receive more calls about insulation grants than anything else, and are able to advise people about the grants available, and have a service where we can pass them directly to an installer to have a free no obligation survey if they wish. We only use local installers who have a proven track record of good quality work.
We do not endorse companies that use telemarketing or door to door canvassing.
Please note the grants always need to be applied for before work is carried out, and grants are never given retrospectively.
The available grants can be confusing, and we will explain each type, who qualifies and what they offer.
The CERT grants have been running for several years now, and are available because the Government made the Utility companies spend 10% of their bottom line profit on subsidies for energy efficiency measures, this is by far the biggest grant system and every utility company offers grants under these schemes.
Anybody can qualify for a discount from the total cost of cavity wall and loft insulation under this scheme regardless of their income or savings, typically there is around a third off the cost.
Under this scheme people on various benefits and allowances qualify to have the work done for free (except if property is larger than average for it’s type). The funding is for cavity wall and loft insulation. The following benefits and allowances qualify:
- Over 70 year olds
OVER - 70 YEARS OF AGE? GET YOUR FREE INSULATION AND REDUCE YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT AND FUEL BILLS
Dorset Energy Advice Centre are working in partnership with local installers to offer free insulation to residents over 70 years of age. The grant can provide cavity wall and loft insulation for FREE in most cases.
This is a relatively new grant which is being funded by the utility companies whilst funding lasts.
Phone us to register your details, and please tell your friends. This is one of many such energy efficiency grants that we are promoting.
(Please have your National Insurance Number available)
The following local authorities have joined this scheme :
The authorities in theese areas are providing free cavity wall and loft insulation up to the value of £1000, to owner occupiers between 60 and 69 years of age living in properties that fall into council tax bands A, B, C, and D. Other Dorset councils are expected to join this scheme shortly.
You do not need to be on benefits, and funding is limited. Contact DEAC for more details on (0800) 975 0166.
