Introduction

One of the most important areas of saving energy is insulation. Quality and appropriate insulation reduces heating costs, makes homes more comfortable (warmer in winter and cooler in summer) and forms one of the bedrocks of renewables - it is nearly always cheaper to save energy with insulation than it is to geneate it - so if thinking of generating energy (i.e. wind turbines, solar hot water sysyems, biomass, etc) then addressing insulation first will mean you can spend less on a smaller system for the same effect or spend the same and reap more benefits.
